Monthly Review: January

January is coming to end, and with it, comes our first monthly review. At the end of every month (hopefully) we will be blogging about some of the projects that each of us worked on. Our reason for this is twofold. First, we want to give everyone a peek into the inner workings of The Axe. Second, we don’t want people thinking that all we do is sit around and eat burritos all day.

Being the month that we launched The Black Axe, January was kind of a big deal to us. We spent the first week or so getting together our website, blog, forms, and all of the other miscellaneous things we needed to launch together.

Anyway, I’ve rambled on long enough. Here’s some of what we did

Derek

Richard

  • Tee Design for Senses Fail (Pic Below)
Check out their website at http://www.sensesfail.com/
  • Branding For Harvest of Hope Fest
HOH is a ridiculously giant music festival in St. Augustine, FL. An insane number of really good bands playing for a great cause. Get more info at http://harvestofhopefest.com/
  • Gatorface Tour
Some of you may not know that Richard is also part of the stupid awesome band Gatorface. They did a week long tour that turned out pretty awesome. Check out their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/gatorfacefl

Yardley

  • Merch Designs for Pantera
Do I really need to tell you who Pantera is? http://www.pantera.com/
  • Various Cut and Sew
A bunch of different cut and sew items for bands including Cobra Starship and Metro Station.
  • Moving to New York
Yardley is leaving Florida for the big NY. I am not jealous of all of his packing. We wish him a safe journey.

Kevin

  • The Black Axe Site
Kevin spent a good portion of the beginning of the month building our portfolio site. Check it out at http://www.theblackaxe.com
  • Clean The Printer Heads
Our printer was acting up. Kevin put it in it’s place though. Took it all the way to Level 3.
  • Stupid amount of Proposals and Agreements, Etc.
Kevin deals with most of the clients. I do not envy that. We are super lucky that he rules at it.

Joey

  • Roadrunner MySpace (with Flash work by Kevin)
Roadrunner is home to bands such as Dragonforce, Slipknot, and Nickelback. View the MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/roadrunnerrecords
  • Paper + Plastick Site
I’m still working out the finishing touches on the site, but it’s a monster. Features a fully custom back end to control everything. Check out their myspace in the meantime and purchase prints from many of your favorite Axers http://www.myspace.com/paperandplastick
  • Black Axe Blog
Without it, you wouldn’t be reading this.

There you have it folks. There are a few other projects that we can’t talk about yet, but they are rad so be stoked.

That Senses Fail shirt is incredible. Also, there is a nerdy internet joke contained within that band’s name, just waiting to happen.
